Pinterest is unique in that it heavily favors long, vertical images. After years of cropping photo width to 800 pixels, Pinterest now recommends 1,000 x 1,500 pixels, which is a 2:3 aspect ratio.

For link shares, use images that are at least 1200 x 630 pixels for the best display on high resolution devices. At the minimum, you should use images that are 600 x 315 pixels to display link page posts with larger images.

Hi there, Thanks for your article. I notice that many pages are now sharing links with square-shaped feature photo, which would take up more space in the news feed, and shall attract more engagement. However, when I try to do the same, my square-shaped photo will be cropped by Facebook as a horizontal rectangle. What is the trick to use square-sized photos in links? Thanks.

Thank you for your help, I did manage to create my Facebook cover photo size of 820 pixels by 360 pixels (and keeping critical elements within safe zones will ensure that nothing important gets cut off on either mobile devices or desktop). It did work wonderfully! Until last week: the cover image is now appearing scaled to fit on mobile devices! ? Can you help me with this? Thank you so much.

I would like to know this too, in terms of what you meant when you created the infographic. As a user when you just post something on a page, what determines whether it falls under being Brand Awareness at 1200628 or a Post at 1200900? Thanks for your reply and the graphic.

Your profile photo is displayed not only on your profile page, but also on your posts in the news feed, your comments on other posts, search results, and across Facebook wherever your profile or page is referenced or shown.

All-text posts can be boring, so why not spruce up your Facebook posts with a picture? Whether you want to add photos to a new post, edit an existing post, or post photos in comments, adding photos to Facebook posts is easy. This wikiHow article teaches you how to add images to your posts on Facebook using a computer or the mobile app on your Android, iPhone, or iPad.

A variety of problems can get in the way of you posting pictures to your Facebook account: a browser issue, a problem with the size or format of the photos, or even a technical fault with Facebook itself. If you're posting from a mobile device, troubleshoot the app you're using. An unstable connection to the Web can also cause difficulties with posting pictures.

The Facebook photo upload tool makes use of Adobe Flash, so ensure your browser is running the latest version of the plugin, which can be downloaded from Adobe's site. In addition, ensure you are running the most recent version of your browser, which includes the newest compatibility patches and bug fixes. If you find you can upload photos in an alternative browser program, disabling the extensions running on your default browser or uninstalling and reinstalling the application may fix the issue.

Facebook can experience problems with images more than 15MB in size, or saved in formats other than JPG, BMP, PNG, GIF and TIFF. You may have to shrink your pictures or convert them to a different format before they can be uploaded successfully. If you are struggling to upload images that have been processed in a photo editor application, try using the original images instead.

Problems posting photos from a mobile device such as a phone or tablet can often be solved by rebooting your device to clear out any temporary files or data that may have been corrupted. Uninstalling and reinstalling the Facebook app may also resolve the issue, as this resets the app's configuration settings and enables you to reestablish the connection to the Facebook site. Always keep your mobile operating system updated to the newest version to ensure compatibility with Facebook and its apps.

If you have an unstable or intermittent connection to the Internet, it may prevent you from transferring large amounts of data (such as photos) while smaller uploads (such as text) work without any problems. Use a connection test site such as Speedtest.net to determine the strength and quality of your link to the Web. If possible, switch to a more stable connection or try disconnecting and reconnecting again.
